FastScripts 2.7.1: Quick Fix for “Path to Me”

August 18th, 2018

FastScripts 2.7.1 is now available for download from the MarsEdit home page and has been submitted to the Mac App Store.

This update fixes a bug that was introduced in FastScripts 2.7, affecting scripts that use the “path to me” AppleScript command to get a reference to the location of the running script.

I have been a grateful user of your NudgeFinderSelection scripts for years, but they failed with the recent FastScript update, and I believe are still failing as of 2.7.2.
My ‘Nudges’ runs correctly with ScriptEditor but not with FastScript.

My workaround has been to remove first block of code and just have each up/down/right/left ‘nudge’ move in the intended direction, but I’m mystified about what underlies the buggy behavior.

Hi Tim – thanks for letting me know. I haven’t used those scripts in a while so I will have to take a look! I’ll let you know what I find.

Hi again, Tim. I looked into it and it seems related to the script’s use of “path to me as string”. This is related to some other isssues in FastScripts 2.7+ that involve the “path to” handler. I think I have resolved them for 2.7.3, which I hope to release later today.
